Diindolylmethane (DIM for short) is found in cruciferous vegetables. The plant’s medicinal advantages can be attributed to phytonutrients (plant nutrients with health-promoting properties). DIM has these phytonutrients, its functions are particular and unique. This compound supports a beneficial shift in the balance of the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone, which is strongly associated with lower cancer risk and is a chemo-preventive. DIM also provides antioxidant activity to prevent damage from free radicals in the body.

One of the lesser-known benefits of DIM is that it can reduce fat deposition formation, thus reducing fat accumulation and having anti-obesity effects. Part of this benefit is due to the impact that DIM has on estrogen metabolization, enabling the body to convert “bad estrogen” into “good estrogen” and to assist the body’s ability to detoxify the buildup of estrogen in the system and the liver as well as enhancing the detoxification of harmful estrogen metabolites.

DIM is also known to work on enhancing energy and cardiovascular health, healthy muscle development, reduced risk of a heart attack, calming estrogen dominance either due to hypothyroidism or PCOS, regulating cell growth, and eliminating damaged cells.

    DIM Supports:

    • Weight loss and metabolism
    • Mood and memory
    • Strong bones and healthy joints
    • PMS symptoms
    • Balancing estrogen dominance
    • Prostate health in men

    Key Ingredients:

Diindolylmethane-estrogen metabolizer affects estrogen to regulate the first half of the menstrual cycle and then metabolizes the hormone for elimination via urination and defecation.  It supports healthy estrogen levels, lowering the risk of certain cancers and diseases like lupus that are linked to estrogen.

Broccoli Extract is a high-antioxidant food that helps prevent the oxidation of other foods. Broccoli extract is used for lowering cholesterol and preventing migraine headaches.

BioPerine is used to enhance bioavailability in supplements – like the beauty supplement you may be taking for your hair, skin, and nails.  BioPerine helps your body to better absorb and process calcium, iron, zinc, iodine, copper, vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin D, Ginkgo Biloba, and more. Some antioxidants are enhanced by BioPerine.

    Dosage:

Take 1 capsule per day or as directed by your physician.

    FAQS

What are the symptoms of estrogen dominance?

    • Irregular menstrual cycle and heavy bleeding in women
    • Weight gain, especially in your hips, thighs, and midsection
    • Fibroids/ endometriosis
    • Fibrocystic breasts and gynecomastia in men
    • Insomnia
    • Depression/anxiety/irritability/unusual mood swings
    • Low libido
    • Fatigue

I have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), can this help me? As always consults your healthcare practitioner. PCOS is caused by insulin resistance and estrogen dominance and DIM is known for assisting the liver in detoxifying excess estrogens and estrogen metabolites, therefore, assisting with the estrogen dominance issue.

What are free radicals in the body? Free radicals are unstable atoms that can damage cells, causing illness and aging. Free radicals are linked to aging and a host of diseases.

I am having hormone imbalances, what diet do you recommend? You may take a look at our Detox For Life book as it has many healthy detox recipes. Detox supports hormone balancing and liver health.

What other products would be good for hormone balancing while taking this product? It depends on your health history and your goals. Always consult your healthcare practitioner when taking a nutritional supplement. If you are looking at balancing hormones, you may read more about Balance and Harmony for women.

What other conditions has DIM been used for? It is known that DIM is excellent for liver health as the liver is the crossroads of all of our hormones and it needs help cleaning itself of built-up hormone metabolites so it can metabolize the rest of the hormones better.  These can be metabolites of any hormone, usually cortisol and estrogen, in both men and women.

Can I take this if I am on hormone replacement therapy?

Always consult your health care practitioner. For many people taking DIM improves the safety of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Long-term use of HRT has been shown to increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer. Many of estrogen’s risks are related to a lack of healthy metabolism. It is known that higher levels of “good” estrogen are related to a lower risk of breast cancer, and possibly heart disease. Therefore, since DIM supplementation increases “good” estrogen, it may reduce the risk of HRT-related side effects.

Can someone in perimenopause or menopause use this?

DIM can support perimenopause.  A slower hormone metabolism in midlife can mean higher-than-normal levels of estrogen and a deficiency of “good” estrogen. Faltering estrogen metabolism often occurs in women during perimenopause. This can be aided by DIM’s actions on hormone balance and metabolism. As always, consult your healthcare provider before taking any nutritional supplements.
